Perfect Ponytail
The perfect ponytail is easy to achieve. Follow the step by step directions below. Hair Preparation - Make sure that the hair is relatively clean (no oily roots) and if your hair is not naturally curly, you can brush through it to free tangles. Submit a photo of your ponytail hairstyle here. Materials Needed: - An elastic ponytail holder - make sure that it is coated so that the elastic does not rip and damage your hair
- A hairbrush or fine-tooth comb (if you have straight hair and want a sleek, polished look)
- Setting spray
- Optional: - ponytail hair extension to make your ponytail look thicker, longer and more shiny.
Step #1 We are going to position a ponytail on the upper back-side of the head. This type of ponytail makes your profile pleasing and creates a youthful lift. If your hair is curly, gently gather all of the hair together in the back of the head. If your hair is straight and you want a sleek, smooth look, comb or brush the hair gently to the back of your head and gather it together in one hand.

Step #2 Take the elastic ponytail holder and pull the hair gently through the middle of the holder.

Step #3 In order to strengthen the hold of the ponytail holder, place a couple of fingers inside the "O" of the ponytail holder and wind it around once. Open up the new circle created and pull the hair of the ponytail through this new circle.

Step #4 If the holder is still not holding the ponytail up well, repeat step #3 as many times as needed to secure the ponytail holder.

Step #5 If the ponytail loosened gently grab 2 sections of your ponytail and pull these sections away from each other. This should tighten the grip of the holder on the hair. Don't do this too often though, or you could damage your hair under the stress of the ponytail holder.

Step #6 If needed, style the ends of your hair that come out of the ponytail. Spray with hairspray to set in place.
