Half Ponytail
The half ponytail is simply a ponytail made with only half of your hair. This is a common style for women who want to tie the hair on the sides of their head back, while keeping the hair in the back down and loose. Step #1 Submit a photo of your ponytail hairstyle here. Step #1 is optional. It has become popular for women to have some height or a "bump" on the top/back of her head while wearing a ponytail. There are two ways you can do this: Option 1: If you have thin hair, or want a "bump" on the top of your head, gently back-comb the hair on the top of your head and brush gently over the top to create some height and lift. 
Use Bump Up the Volume clip-in hair extensions to create lift and height on the top of the head as well as a thicker more voluminous ponytail. Pictured beneath are before and after photos of my ponytail without the clip in extensions (pictured on the left) and with the extensions (on the right). 
Use a small tooth comb to separate the hair on the sides of your head from the back of your hair. Hold the hair you want to go in the ponytail in one hand placed high on the back of your head.
Use a coated elastic ponytail holder and pull the hair that you gathered through the center of the elastic holder.
In order to tighten the elastic so that it holds the ponytail in place, pull the elastic and flip it over - thereby creating another loop. Pull the ends of the ponytail through this new loop. 
If the elastic is still not tight enough to hold the ponytail securely in place, repeat step 4 as many times as needed to get the elastic secure. Optional: Lightly mist with hairspray If you want a more formal looking half ponytail that utilizes spiral curls,click half up half down prom hairstyle to get directions (this hairstyle is pictured at the top of this page). Step #6 - Optional Make a small hole directly above the ponytail holder. Take the ends of the ponytail and pull it up, through this hole, and then down again. It will create an interesting looking twist and it will hide the ponytail holder.
