Chignon Hair Style for Long Hair

Did you look great at a special event? Submit a photo of your hairstyle here. This hair style for long hair is an elegant chignon that gently twists around itself. Your hair should be at least shoulder length. Your hair is long enough to do this style if you have at least 6-8 inches of hair that hangs out of your ponytail. Materials needed - 2 elastic ponytail holders – make sure that they are coated so that you do not rip your hair.
- Bobby pins shaded the color of your hair
- Hairspray
Step #1 Gather the hair on the sides and top of your head into a ponytail that is placed on the upper half of the back of your head. Secure with a coated elastic ponytail holder.

Step #2Gather the remainder of the hair into another ponytail aligned vertically a couple of inches beneath the top ponytail.

Step #3Hold the top ponytail downward and slightly away from the head (to the left). Wind the bottom pony tail up and around the top of the top ponytail until the ends of the lower ponytail are sticking up on the right side of the upper ponytail.
Step #4Pull the ends of the lower ponytail over the top of the upper ponytail’s elastic, (thereby hiding it), and tuck the ends under the crossover area of the two ponytails. Use bobby pins to secure in place.
Step #5Bring the ends of the top ponytail down and around the base of the lower ponytail and up on the right (making a loop). Secure the ends in place under the chignon with bobby pins.

If the hair is extra long (like our model) - you may need to loop the ends of the top ponytail around itself in a round "curl" before placing the bobby pins (pictured below):
Does this seem too complicated? If you want a chignon that you don’t have to style yourself, try this clip-in chignon and look elegant without spending the time and energy styling yourself!
