Here are the various hair extension techniques:

1. Strand by Strand Method - In this hair extension technique, strands of hair extension are attached one by one to small sections of natural hair by gluing, clamping, heat fusing, with metal tubes or with waxes and polymers. This is a temporary solution, as you will need to go back to a licensed cosmetologist every 2-6 months to get them reattached as the bond may break, or just grow out - thereby exposing the extensions.

2. Weft Hair Extensions - Weft hair extensions look like little curtains of hair attached together at the top with the hair freely flowing at the bottom. They are attached by sewing them to a tiny braid made out of your own hair. These last about 6-8 weeks, as the tiny braids will grow out and loosen the extensions.
