Did you look great at your last prom? Submit a photo of your hairstyle here. Materials Needed:
- Bobby pins the shade of your hair
- 1 rubber band
- A small tooth comb
- Hairspray
- Curling iron
- Hair flower or hair accessories that will complement your dress
Hair preparation: Start with a clean head of hair. Your hair can be either curly or straight.
Step #1
Start twisting a ¼ inch section of hair starting at the hairline of the forehead and twisting to the back of your head. Make sure that you keep picking up hair in the row that you are twisting as you move backward. It should look like this:

Step #2
You can secure the twist in one of two ways. The first is to straddle the twist with your open bobby pin and then turn the bobby pin to tuck under the twist. This way, all your bobby pins are hidden.
The second way (shown in the picture below) is to secure the mini-twist with two bobby pins. Criss-cross the bobby pins like an X to ensure that the twist stays inplace. This method will work better with thick, heavy hair that will not hold in place with just one bobby pin.

Step #3
Continue taking ¼ in. sections of hair and doing steps one and two. Repeat until the sides and top of your head are covered in twists.

Step #4
Bring the rest of the hair into a high pony-tail and secure with a rubber band. To make this hairstyle especially beautiful for prom, add a ponytail hair extension. This particular extension can be curled or straightened with heat products.

Step #5
Take 1 in. sections of hair from the ponytail and curl in
spiral curls
. Continue to do this technique with the entire ponytail until all hair is shaped in beautiful spiral curls. Do not comb out the curls. When finished your hair should look like this:
Step #6
As you can see above, the spiral curls coming out of the ponytail may not look even at the bottom. For a cleaner look, we bobby pinned the hair up and under the ponytail. To pin the hair up, just take the ends of the spiral curls that are hanging down and bobby pin them up individually under your ponytail.

Step #7
Next, lightly spray with hairspray. Bring individual spiral curls up and forward over the ponytail holder (towards your face in the front) to cover the ponytail holder and excess bobby pins (if you used the criss-cross method). Strategically place curls in different places to fill in the gaps.

Step #8 (optional): Add hair jewels and sprinkle them throughout the crown of your head, or add a hair flower to your fun prom hair style.
