This easy updo is a great style for a flower girl, but is elegant enough for a bridesmaid, or even a bride.
Materials needed: - 4 elastic ponytail holders - preferably in the color of your hair
- Bobby pins the shade of your hair
- Hair spray
- Small-tooth comb and/or a Hairbrush
- Optional: Hair Jewels or bobby pins that have jewels on the ends
Hair Preparation for Easy Updo: None - But if you have naturally curly or frizzy hair, and would like the sleek appearance that our flower girl has in the picture above, then you will first need to straighten your hair. Step #1 Part the hair horizontally from ear to ear with the small-tooth comb, gather this hair (which consists of the sides and front of the hair) into a ponytail on the back of the crown and secure with an elastic. Step #2 Use your hairbrush or small-tooth comb to gather the rest of the hair into another ponytail positioned 2 inches below the top ponytail. Step #3 Divide the top ponytail into two, equal, side-by-side parts. Twist these two sections around each other from roots to the ends of the hair and secure the ends with the third elastic ponytail holder. Step #4 Take the upper ponytail twist, wrap it down and around the left side of the lower ponytail and loop it back up on the right. Continue wrapping this twist in a loop until you run out of hair. Use bobby pins to secure the ends under the twist, thereby disguising the elastic ponytail holder. Here are pictures of the process: Step #5 Secure all sides of the looped twist with bobby pins. Make sure that the loop covers both the top of the upper ponytail's elastic holder and the underside of the bottom ponytail's elastic. The hair of the lower ponytail should be coming out of the middle of the circular twist wrap. It should look something like this: Step #6 Divide the lower ponytail into two parts and twist the lower ponytail just like you did the upper. Secure with the 4th elastic ponytail holder. Step #7 Lift the lower twist straight up, thereby covering the hole in the center of the first looped twist. Secure this over the hole at the top of the loop with bobby-pins. You will be securing this twist in the middle of the hair. Let the ends of the twist hang to the right side of the updo for now. Pictures of the process: Step #8 Guide the rest of the twist around the right, under the lower ponytail holder, and back up on the left. Tuck the ends in and bobby-pin in place. Continue to secure the updo with bobby pins and pull hair over as necessary to cover any holes. Spray with hairspray, and if desired, add hair jewels or "sprinkle" the updo with bobby-pins that have rhinestones on the ends. See what updo style works best for you - upload your picture:
