Dandruff Natural Remedies

Dandruff is caused by a poor diet, imbalance of hormones, a dull metabolism, or possibly yeast bacteria. It is important to explore the root cause to see if you can eliminate the problem for good!

In the meantime, though, you need a remedy to get rid of the flakes. Here are a few low-cost ways:

Aspirin - Take two aspirins and crush them. Add them to a quarter-sized amount of shampoo that you use to wash your hair. Put the mixture on your hair, leave it for one to two minutes, and then rinse off.

Tea Tree Oil - You can either pour drops of the tea tree oil directly on problem areas, or if the problem is all over your head, combine about 10 drops of tea tree oil with a quarter-sized amount of olive oil. Massage this oil all over your scalp. We recommend doing this before bed, because your hair may feel and look oily. Cover your hair with a towel or plastic bag as you sleep. In the morning, wash your hair as normal.

Vinegar - This method also works wonderfully to detoxify your hair of waxy build-up caused by certain hair products:

Combine ¼ cup apple cider vinegar and 1 cup of water. After conditioning your hair, use this as a final rinse. This will also leave your hair soft and shiny. As a side note: We have tried this with plain white vinegar, and found that it works just as well.

Make sure that you clean all of your brushes and combs. Do not reintroduce old flakes and oil back into your freshly detoxified hair.
