Chignon Buns

chignon buns

Low chignon buns have become increasingly popular with celebrities. They are sleek and classy and look great with a hair flower or some sparkling combs or hair pins. This is a perfect style for special occasions, parties and any formal event.

Hair Preparation

Make sure that you have a clean head of dry hair. If your hair is curly and you want the sleek and shiny look we have here, follow the directions to straighten your hair with a flat iron first and then come back here to finish the style.

Step #1

Part hair in your normal fashion and follow the part back to create two sections of hair. You will be making two, low ponytails in the back of your head. If you have bangs, leave them out and let them fall on your forehead (as usual).

Step #2

Take a 1 inch section of hair and separate it from the rest of one of the ponytails. Wrap this hair around two of your fingers like you are wrapping it around a roller. (If your hair is very straight and is resisting curling around your fingers, or you have layered ends that stick out, curl this hair with a curling iron first to make it easier to wrap around your fingers.)

Slip your fingers out of the middle of the "rolled" hair and bobby pin the roll in place to the hair lying taut on your head beneath. Spray with hairspray to make it even more secure.

Step #3

Take another 1 inch section of hair from this same ponytail and repeat step 2 with it. Work your way around the perimeter of the entire ponytail so that hair is rolled out in all directions - effectively hiding the ponytail holder in the middle. It will create a "flower" effect.

Step #4

Repeat steps 2 and 3 on the other low ponytail.

Step #5

Tuck in any loose hairs and bobby-pin in place. Spray generously with hairspray.
