Best Prom Hair Style For This Season: The Elegant Spiral Ponytail
Why did we choose this as the best prom hair style? Because the 1980's side ponytail has made a comeback, but with 21st century flair and elegance. The hair flower is also a new must-have hair accessory that is popping up all over Hollywood. Pick a color that will accent your dress.

To achieve the Best Prom Hair Style, you must first follow the
spiral curls (this link opens in a new window)
technique to achieve a full head of those luscious spiral curls. To do this style, you will need hair long enough to pull most of it over into a low side ponytail. If your hair is not long or full enough, try clip-in hair extensions to make your prom hair as beautiful as possible.
Don't worry if you have some shorter layers. Those layers can be pinned up and around your head.
Materials needed:
- Bobby pins
- Hairspray
- Ponytail holder
- Hair Flower or Large, Jeweled Barrette
Step #1
Do not comb or finger through your spiral Curls! You need each curl shaped in a beautiful spiral from roots to ends. Start by deciding what side you want your ponytail to be on.
Step #2
Starting on the side opposite from your ponytail, take one curl at a time and bobby pin it over and around your head. Open the bobby pin with your finger and bobby pin over part of the curl and tuck the pin in and under the spiral curl so that the pin is hidden.

Tip: Do not pull the curl too hard, or you will flatten the spiral curl. Just gently drape each individual curl around and over your head pinning each individual curl in place.
Step # 3
Continue to take each curl up and around the head, pinning in place as you go until all of your hair is brought to a low ponytail on one side. Here are some pictures of the process:

The pictures above show how to tuck the bobby pin under the curl so that it is not noticeable.
The following picture shows how the hair will look about halfway through the process. We have pinned all of the hair on the crown up and over first, now we need to do the side opposite the ponytail.

This picture shows a hair that did not get curled very well. If this happens, you can always go back and curl again, but we simply just twisted it in a loose twist and brought it around the back and over.

Tip: Don't worry if all of your hair will not reach over into the side ponytail. This is fine. Most girls have some layers that will not reach. Just bring them loosely over your head and pin in place. If you keep the curls loose, (not tightly pulled to your head) with all of your hair in curls headed in the same direction, it will not even be noticeable that some hairs did not reach.
Step #4
Once all of the curls are pinned up and over to one side, take the hair in a low ponytail and secure with a ponytail holder or a large barrette. In our case, we used a large hair clip that is attached to a gorgeous Swarovski crystal flower.
Enjoy prom night in the best prom hair style.
